A high-quality sign is a great way to make a good first impression on customers, visitors, and passers-by. Quality signage conveys confidence in your product, projects your workplace’s atmosphere, and displays your organization’s values, all at a glance.

Here are five reasons you should consider upgrading your business signs.

Weather Damage

When installing signs for your business, it’s important to remember that they will eventually be exposed to storms and possibly even forms of severe weather. Weather damage drastically reduces the lifespan of your signage, making maintenance more expensive over time.

Some common forms of weather damage most signs will experience include:

  • Erosion from prolonged exposure to rain or snow
  • Tearing from strong winds
  • Electrical shorts from water leakage
  • Scratches and cracks from hail and debris

The materials you choose for your sign can greatly affect how well your sign stands up to this kind of cosmetic damage. Acrylic, for example, is particularly sensitive to scratching. Metal signs, on the other hand, especially those with a protective powder coating, are far more durable, allowing them to withstand the elements for years to come.

Sun Damage

While not as obvious as damage from severe weather, exterior signs experience wear and tear even on bright sunny days. Over time, exposure to UV light causes plastic signs to degrade and turn yellow. This can make signs look dull and worn out.

To avoid sun damage, we recommend choosing metal signs and powder-coated signs for outdoor signage.

Paint Wear and Tear

There’s a reason why museums hire professionals to conserve famous paintings: even under ideal conditions, no paint job lasts forever. Chipping, cracking, gouging, and peeling can come from any number of sources, like the weather. And even without direct damage, other elements like sunlight, accumulated dirt, and grime can cause the colors to fade, dull, and wash out.

Bypass traditional paint issues with long-term protection that comes from powder coating. Powder coating also has the advantage over traditional paint of keeping your signs colorful and vibrant.

Electrical Issues

Lighting is a great way to add some flare to your sign, but older lighting systems can be inefficient and expensive. Older incandescent bulbs require frequent changing, and fluorescent bulbs contain harmful chemicals like mercury. While neon signs offer an extra degree of color, they are also bulky and heavy and offer a limited number of color options.

LED lights are superior to older lighting methods in several ways. LED lights are lighter and less bulky, burn up to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs, have thousands of times more color options than neon, and contain no harmful materials.

Outdated Design

Even if your sign is in great condition, sometimes the design itself might be the issue. Design tastes also change over time, and what looks trendy one year may look old-fashioned the next.

Perhaps your company is taking a new direction and wants new branding to reflect that. Or maybe the design simply isn’t eye-catching enough to draw in business.

Our design team will work closely with you to make sure your sign reflects your vision. Whether you want a contemporary look or something timeless, we’ll make your ideas a reality and create a sign that’s one-of-a-kind.
